I'm not sure that conservatism is inherently less funny - I think the type of conservatism you're referring to relies on ignorance for its survival. It may be funny to watch (when it isn't being scary) but it's hard to be witty or clever when yer not, duh, witty - or clever. Conservatism and ignorance don't necessarily go hand in hand - conservative leaders just seem to be good at capitalizing on it. That’s a good question that I never cared about until you asked.
