Personally, I believe that &quot;nobody knows anything&quot; is much more broadly applicable to symbolic competition for attention.  &quot;Nobody knows anything&quot; doesn&#039;t mean that attentional regularities (sex, violence) don&#039;t exist, but that these regularities, which are generally appreciated, are internalized within the art and hence neutralized.&lt;/p&gt;
