My Team Your Team goes pro!
I am fantastically and wonderfully glad (and proud) to announce that the game my son and I made up one night at Bob Evans on the back of a paper menu has a site devoted to its play.
Check out: TheSuperest.com
An ongoing match of My Team, Your Team.
These are actual artists, people. Which is scary. I don’t know if my powers of superness will be super enough to be superest…
Truly spectacular props to the creators, Kevin Cornell and Matthew Sutter. These guys are funny, smart and Dan and I will totally kick their BUTTS if they just come to Ohio and sit down in a greasy spoon w/ us over a plate of eggs and sausage gravy.
My next thought is that a site where anybody can create an account and link to Flickr pics (or whatever) with indications of who they "beat" w/ that picture. We’ll see…. Hmmm….
Anyway, my thanks to Kevin and Matthew for propogating the joy that is My Team, Your Team. And may the best toon win.

Wow! So, Andy, do you know Kevin and Matthew in real life, or did they take MTYT to the next level solely from this blog? Very cool, either way.
On the subject of online battles, I just came across something called Layer Tennis. It’s a real-time photoshop “tennis” match, where competing artists volley a picture back and forth trying to top each other with their creations. There’s live color commentary and forum chatter. Tune in this coming Friday for a special Halloween match.
(Incidentally, I have no vested interest in any of this. I only came across it ’cause Matthew Baldwin, author of Defective Yeti, one of the humor blogs I’ve bookmarked, will be doing the color commentary this Friday.)

Apparently, we had the same idea. I recently ran across thesuperest.com on MeFi, and loved it so much we started a home game on the fridge. So many of my non-local friends wanted in, that we took it to the web. Many of us are musicians, i.e. we can’t draw, but that hasn’t stopped us yet. We’ve used Photoshop and ComicLife to get around it. Do stop by and check us out - and feel free to submit; we’d love a post from you. Hopefully this will spiral out of control.
Many thanks again to the progenitor of “My Team, Your Team” - perhaps the greatest game ever. Happy Battling.

Just wanted to let you know that there’s a pretty good (IMHO) MTYT game going on at Reddit.com (http://reddit.com/info/5z7o4/comments/c02bm4b).
We don’t have the benefit of crayons or placemats, but it’s been going on for four days.
Anyhow, thanks for some great fun. My wife is pregnant with our first child and I can’t wait to introduce him/her to this game.

Justin: I just checked out Bayoubattle… how excellent! Photoshopped MTYT. I love it. I will endeavor to add something and kick yer booty sometime soon.
Sean: A word-only version… veerrrry interesting. It’s kinda like “Haiku meets comic books.” Lots of fun for those of us in the Puns-R-Us fan club. Cool idea.
