@Jen:

Which do I prefer? Well, it's much harder to get together in person, but it's also much more visceral. So I guess it's like asking, "Do I prefer peanut-butter to Chopin?" They're very different dogs. I love talking poetry in person, because it is (for me) one of the most intimate kinds of conversations you can have. But the net-based writing/editing/critiquing has been very, very good to me, too, as it can be done when thou wilt, rather than in a specific place, at a specific time.

I like 'em both.

How can you not have feedback on an article about feedback? That just seems wrong. Or ironic. Your pick.

I like it when you write about poetry, and this seems like a really fun poetry party activity, like something a person could do at a writer's meetup...

Having had experience between in-person writing activities and net-based writing activities, which do you prefer? Is it easier to do critique work with your critiquee physically absent? Or do you find it's easier to participate and build on group writing excercises when you have full vocal and expressional input?
